Movement Building

Where We Are

WHERE WE ARE AND HOW WE'RE DOING IT

We are continuing to build on movements for justice in Chicago. Our movements require lots of different strategies and people to win the things we need. We believe a strong ecosystem of grassroots organizations that are resourced from our commu- nities will lead us to collective liberation. From grants to donor organizing, Cross- roads Fund is committed to supporting movements for the long haul.

DONOR ORGANIZING

We organize donors to create change. We strive to mobilize both people and money to support grassroots movements. Thus our work is built on a foundation of relationships that grows beyond traditional philanthropy. We push donors to think critically about their resources and act in line with their values through fundraising, grant making, and community building. Our approach strives to move from transactional giving toward more meaningful and transformational engagements.

SOCIAL MOVEMENT DEVELOPMENT MODEL - EVALUATION TOOL

Designed to help organizers and those fighting for systems change to assess their work and impact when there is not an obvious major policy change or campaign victory.

PARTICIPATORY GRANTMAKING

Our approach strengthens Chicago’s movement community as it facilitates relationships between organizers and community members — building more power together and moving towards a collective liberation.
